I'm working on a new ROV very similar to The Seafox design. For thrusters I want to use brushless outrunner DC motors with electronic speed controller. And I think I've found a working combo, but want to chech with you experienced ROV builders before I order

On the motor specs it says that the motor pulls maximum 9A. Running in water, with the above ducted fan, I expect it to be a bit higher. And at the same time, I'm not going to run these on full power(which would be around 12,000 RPMs(!) if my numbers are correct). So I think 18Amp ESC would do. Either way, it's the only ESC I can find on HobbyKing which is air cooled, and a working reverse program.
The ESC's should be controlled by a Arduino uC, so I can limit the controll signal for speed(and perhaps build in a "power" mode for short runs where extra speed is needed).
Any inputs? Should I forget about the ducted fan and go with simple propellers instead?
