600 gph bildge pumps ok for 100ft??

Post by Vwrov »

Well i dont have any pictures yet but my rov is almost complete, but have had a second guess. I bought 6 600gph bildge pumps and planned on running them just as they are, i notice most of your rovs use 1000gph but they cost about 70 bucks each were i am. My question is, will my 600s still be suffiecent to use in open water , and handle the teather etc, (tether is a cat5 with 2 16awg power wires and 1 video/audio line) its only a 100 foot cable but would hate to put it all together just have it act like a rock, ( this is my first rov just to test the waters out) so converting to props ill save for the next model and higher gph motors if i can. Any advice would grearly be appreciated. Ive tried looking through the site but found no definative answer

What bilge pumps are you using that do 600 GPH? The Johnson pumps all use identical housings, just with different motors inside. I believe the Rules work that way too, but I can't say for sure, as I don't have any of those. Rule or Johnson 500s should work to 100 feet no problem, but I don't know what type you're using.

There called shoreline marine , there good for fresh or salt water, and are $20 each, anything else even for a 500 gph are at least 50$ in ontario. And could not find any of the pumps you guys use locally.

Assuming they are similar build quality, they should be fine. Can't really say anything definite, though, since I've never used them.
