I have successfully used phone cable as tether down to about 10 ft. I am now building an ROV that is meant to go deeper (around 30-50 ft), just wondering if anyone knows what depth phone cable can still work as a tether. There is no definite answer on the internet, but it seems that the cable might dissipate too much power at that depth. Pressure could be an issue too, I don't know.

The increased pressure shouldn't be a problem. The longer the cable, the greater the voltage drop. Phone cable's cheap, give it a try, see what happens.
