iam currently planning my new sideway-thruster. So i've googled again for new motors and still asked me why there is a voltage-value for each motor. Mostly for 3S lipo (11,1v) - like the waterproof motors from bluerobotics.

In ROVER3D i use 6 motors for 3S lipos but powering it up with 4S lipos. In the last seven years i'ved used many motors for 3S and powered ESC with 4S lipos ... no problems with the voltage-difference till today. Is it relevant (for ROV)?

So, did anybody ever burned his 3S motor powered by 4S lipo-pack? Any other experience?

I've used brushless motors for a few applications.... RC car racing, and quadcopters.

Cheaper brands normally rate everything for 3s, as the voltage regulator for the 5v output from an ESC to receiver/flight controller is the limiting factor.

4s generates a lot of heat on motors, but with an ROV if your motors are running in water it's not an issue.

if you haven't had an issue with your current ESC's they should be fine.
