If you surf the web you can find a lot of tank bases in which you can build your design around. I would suggest you to buy one of those.

Then if you use brushless motors to move the tracks or some sealed brushed motors you should be good to go.

$80 for two 21V brushless drills w/ batteries.

Would work good as track drivers.

I will need help when it comes down to the electronic/ communication end of things for sure!! I'm good on the mechanical end of things, but will be going back to the pencil and paper for an overall redesign over the winter. The tracks are just overly complicated as they are now, and I'll be switching to a 3" suction dredge where the one manipulator is currently.
Also will be going with A/C over the teather then running an inverter onboard...

Well, if the idea is to power it from the surface, AC is the best bet to tranfer at long distances. Why you dont want to put a battery onboard?

Would take too many batteries to power it for any length of time.
