Hey Ole!

Remember when we first started on this journey? :)

I don't know about you but I thought it would be a six-month project at most. Ha ha.

I don't do much work on mine in the summer months so it's taken me forever to make progress. I'm hoping the hardware side won't be as difficult as the software/logic side has been for me.

Yours is coming together nicely. I'm following along jealously from afar!

Oh yes! I was also sure it would only take a few months! :lol:
My tendency to change my plans almost at a weekly basis is the biggest fault for the long time it is taking.
Always some new ideas, discovering problems and so on.

Hope you get going on your soon! :)

Thanks, I think I've only change the "General" design a few times, but every time I log on here I learn something new and cool that I want to try. Also, I'm stubborn about the mag-coupled thrusters. I can't give up on them, but I haven't had enough success to warrant confidence...

Small update

Cam tube is now almost finished.
Cabling and one more piece to print before its finished.

Inside are 3d printed parts.
One servo for rotating/looking vertically. About 160-170 degrees of movement.
Two lasers spaced 12cm apart for rough size measuring and just looking cool.
One cheap 720p ip camera witch will have a lens with a bit of zoom to better see the manipulator.
One Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I 1080P high quality camera. It does 1080p@30fps and can also do 2048×1536@20fps. But the smoother 1080p looks better. A wider angle lens will be used on this one.

I am also considering a different layout where I remove the low quality cam and add a gopro instead.. At least its possible to do.

Connection in the end is a AN6 hose, connection thingy.. Same connection in my WTC. I can fit 10 pairs of cat5 leads through (removing the outer jacket of the cat5 first)

I have now finished the cables and and hose that will connect my WTC to the camera housing.
As mentioned I have used AN6 fittings and managed to get 9 pairs of UTP cabling through it making a total of 18 leads. Should be enough.
It was an extremely difficult process, started out with 12 pairs bud had to pull out 3 to get it all the way through.
The inner diameter of the hose is bigger then the fittings, so I cut up 3 pieces of 3mm nylon 3D printer filament to tightly pack the hose. This should keep it from compressing when under pressure from the outside.

I also needed a spacer inside my camera housing and I thought "why not pimp it up a little?" So I printed the spaces with what is now my ROV's name on it.
I made the letters recessed, primed it and painted with some silver spray paint that I had laying around. After it dried, I sanded it down so that only (or mostly) the recessed letters still had paint. Not the best finish, but looks ok :)

The name Draug1 I got from old Norwegian folk tales that tells of a ghost, or monster of the seas called Draug or Draugen. Kind of random idea, but I liked it :)

Next step is to solder connectors to the cables, connect everything and see if I broke anything :P

Each cam needs 6 wires. two for power, four for signal.
I haven't checked the amp draw of the cams yet, but maybe I can supply them both from just one pair.
The lasers needs two leads and the servo needs 3 leads.
So in worst case I need 17.
I would like to have a temp sensor and/or a leakage sensor in there, but seems I might be out of luck.
