Greetings fellow ROV enthusiasts.
I’ve been checking out the forum and figure it’s time to introduce myself, hello from the greater NY City area with it’s wonderful brackish water of NY harbor, Newark bay and the Hudson river. For some time I’ve been ‘thought designing’ my ROV and putting it down on paper but have finally started putting the physical pieces together. A slow process (due to other responsibilities) but I am moving forward, working on the waterproof housings for the motors. PVC will be used for the housings needed. My thoughts were to attempt my own control system using an Arduino but I’m beginning to think it will be quicker and easier to use an existing RC system (6 channel) wired to the ROV using CAT5 cable (still going to continue work on the Arduino system as this is much more flexible and and expandable). Power will be on board consisting of one or two 12vdc 12AH batteries. My plan is to use an inexpensive digital camera (Ebay) which would provide a limited zoom capability for less cost than a similar camera from a Supercircuits type outlet. Lighting will be LED’s. That's the plan but hey, live, learn - things may change. Greetings and good luck with your projects!
