Update. I'm not going hydraulic. I'm going to use motors. I haven't decided between brushless or water proof steppers. I printed a few test parts to play with. I think this is going to take a while.

Time for an update. I replaced the big, ugly LED light with 3 small, multi LEDs. Hopefully the epoxy will keep them dry. I also rebuilt the lasers. I think you're reading the relay right.
Here's a link for the Seafox wiring. The COM, NC and NO are different on these relays, but you should be able adapt it to your relay.

Can you draw a picture of what you're trying to do. And maybe take a few pictures of what you've done so far. I've been thinking about a variable ballast system also.
